A Turkish-speaking lawyer in The Hague can discuss your legal question in Turkish and explain Dutch documents. Arslan Advocaten receives you by appointment. We assess questions about work, benefits, family and personal injury, among other things. State which letter you have received and when you have to respond, so that any urgency is immediately visible.

Where can you meet a Turkish-speaking lawyer in The Hague?
In The Hague, Arslan Advocaten lists locations at Paletplein 80 and Goeverneurlaan 445. Check your appointment confirmation to see at which address your meeting takes place. When making your request, say that you want to speak Turkish and what you are seeking advice about. The right lawyer is determined by the content of your question.
The current visitor information is on the page of the The Hague office. Do not send a letter you have received with only a note saying that you need help. Briefly add which authority or other party it comes from and which date it mentions. That way the firm can organise the first assessment in a more targeted way.
What if you do not understand a decision from UWV?
With a decision from UWV, the content and the objection route must be looked at separately. An explanation in Turkish can clarify why a benefit has been changed or refused. At the same time, it must be established which time limit applies. So keep the complete decision, medical or occupational assessment attachments and information about when you received it; the first page alone is often not enough.
UWV states that an objection must usually be received within six weeks of the date of the decision letter. For some Sickness Benefits Act (Ziektewet) decisions, the period is two weeks. This is the explanation on the UWV page on objection periods, consulted on 21 September 2026. Have the time limit in your own decision checked and do not wait for a full translation.
Fictitious example: someone receives a decision based on a medical report, but forwards only the letter. The first step is then to collect the relevant attachments and assess the response period. After that, it can be examined which specific assessment is being disputed. This example says nothing about the chances of success in an individual case.
More information about this area of law can be found at administrative law. A telephone call with an authority does not necessarily replace lodging a legal remedy. So have it recorded which action is needed and who will take it.
Which other problems can you bring to us?
In addition to decisions by authorities, you can ask questions about personal injury, employment, tenancy, family and the firm’s other areas of law. Say if several problems affect one another. An accident can have consequences for work and income; a divorce can raise questions about the home and assets. The handling must reflect that connection.
Our Turkish-speaking personal injury lawyer can explain a compensation claim. A Turkish-speaking divorce lawyer helps to put the legal questions in a relationship breakdown in order. A conversation in Turkish does not mean that Turkish law automatically applies. Foreign documents or proceedings must be assessed separately.
What should you bring to the appointment?
Above all, bring documents that record a decision, agreement or position. An overview by date helps us understand your file quickly. Also tell us what has already been done and by whom. If you are waiting for something, such as a medical report or a response from an insurer, state when it was requested.
- Collect the complete decision or letter, with all attachments.
- Keep envelopes, e-mails and details of receipt.
- Write down earlier telephone calls and arrangements.
- Bring relevant contracts, payments or calculations.
- Formulate your main question and desired outcome.
You do not need to rewrite a medical assessment to be able to make an appointment. Indicate which passages you do not understand and which facts you think are missing. Share confidential information via the agreed secure route. A legal assessment sometimes requires different information than a conversation with a doctor or care provider.
How do you discuss the costs of legal help?
Before the engagement, discuss which work is needed and how it will be paid for. With subsidised legal aid, the Legal Aid Board (Raad voor Rechtsbijstand) assesses whether the conditions are met. You usually pay a personal contribution, and other costs may arise. For personal injury, any reimbursement by the liable party must be assessed separately.
The official explanation of the personal contribution describes the principles. Report any recent fall in income. In principle, the Board uses figures from two years before the year of application; under certain conditions, a different assessment of your current situation can be requested. For each file, it is considered which application is possible.
The fee arrangement should make clear what the engagement covers. Assessing a letter is not the same as lodging an objection, negotiating or litigating. Also ask how you will be informed if the work changes. That way you can assess substantive choices and financial consequences together.
What questions are there about help in Turkish in The Hague?
Which address should I go to?
Use the address in your appointment confirmation. The website lists Paletplein and Goeverneurlaan in The Hague; an appointment applies to the agreed location. Check this in advance, especially if you want to bring documents or someone is bringing you. If in doubt, ask for confirmation before you set off, so that the reserved meeting time can be used well.
Can I get help if my objection is almost too late?
Report the deadline immediately and send the complete decision. The firm must assess which action is still possible and whether the engagement can be accepted. A contact request does not stop the time limit. So do not assume timely filing as long as it has not been clearly agreed who will take care of the objection and when.
Can the lawyer change a medical report?
A lawyer does not replace a doctor’s assessment. It can, however, be examined whether the decision-making and its substantiation are legally sound and which information is missing. Sometimes additional medical information or an expert assessment is relevant. State specifically which limitations you believe were not properly taken into account and which documents are available for that.
Can the conversation take place in Turkish?
Indicate this preference when making your request. The appointment is tailored to the subject and the appropriate lawyer. Bring original Dutch documents, even if someone has already translated them for you. During the discussion, the legal meaning and possible next steps can be explained; a literal translation alone does not always answer your question.
Is subsidised legal aid always free?
No. With subsidised legal aid (toevoeging), the government pays part of the lawyer’s costs and you usually pay a personal contribution. Other costs may also arise. Which conditions apply depends on your situation and the type of case. So discuss in advance both the possible application and the amounts and work for which you yourself are responsible.
How do you request an appointment in The Hague?
Give a short description of your problem, the language in which you want to speak and any time limits. Also state if you have been to the firm before, so that existing information can be taken into account. The appointment and location are then confirmed. You do not need to put your question in legal terms; the relevant facts are the starting point.
